In Vedanatham village, Vilathikulam, Thoothukudi district, a 16-year-old girl was tragically sexually assaulted and murdered. On behalf of Shri Rahul Gandhi, official spokesperson Shri Girish Chodankar (who clarified that he was personally instructed by Rahul Gandhi to speak) and TNCC President Shri Selvaperunthagai reached out to the parents via video call from Delhi to offer their condolences. Shri Rahul Gandhi also stated that he will visit the parents in person very soon to provide comfort.
I, as the Thoothukudi North District Congress Committee President, was present alongside senior party leaders Shri Jayakodi, Shri Pethuraj, Shri Ragan, Shri Rajaram, Shri Ganesan, Shri James, Shri John Britto, Shri Ari, Shri Mariappan, Shri Ramesh, Shri Muthu, and many other national-minded comrades.
I delivered a stern press statement condemning the negligence of the police force in this matter. Furthermore, we assured the villagers that we are ready to provide any assistance they may need. We also promised to stand at the forefront and resolve any issues if they face further trouble from the police.
Met the family of the girl killed in Vilathikulam and conveyed our condolences. As per Shri Rahul Gandhi’s instructions, representative Shri Girish Chodankar and TNCC President Shri K. Selvaperunthagai spoke to the parents, consoled them, and promised to stand by them under any circumstances. They assured that Rahul ji will come in person to offer solace and help them secure justice.
